My experiences with Windows 10 Insider Preview 16251

Microsoft has just started delivering Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16251 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring from 26 July, also known as Fall Creators Update. And I have not wasted any time to download and start using it. One of the main reason to be excited for me is the introduction of linking feature, which connects my Android mobile with my Windows PC seamlessly. Microsoft mentions that the iPhone support is coming soon. In my opinion, this is a big step for Microsoft itself. Because instead of trying to replace Android and iOS with a mobile version of Windows, which is Microsoft trying to do over decades, they finally trying to let all three platforms work together in a place. Preview Build 16251 also includes some improvements to the Cortana digital assistant. The build improves input sources, Game Mode and the Microsoft Edge browser.

I was using Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16241 at the time of my upgrade. As usual, I have to download the full OS via Windows Update and then have to wait for the installation. Don't worry, it's an automated process and you don't have to do anything. But yes, waiting to complete the almost 3GB file download is the most painful part of the process. And keep in mind that you have to be a Fast Ring Windows Insider first in order to get the update on your PC.

After the download completion, you will see installing in %. It will take few minutes to complete. When the process is completed click Restart Now button. Now the main installation process is started and will take almost an hour to finish.

Now the 1st thing I've done after installing this preview of Windows is set up the Phone setting on my PC and Android mobile. You can see the tutorial about how to connect your mobile to Windows 10 PC here. When you are at a website you want to view on your PC, simply open the native share experience on your phone and share the website to the “Continue on PC” option. Next, it will ask you if you want to “Continue now” or “Continue later”. As I am a desk person always having my mobile and PC in front of me, so I am already using this option a lot. Hopefully, Microsoft will add more functionalities to this feature in future.

Then this build also includes some improvements to the Cortana digital assistant. You may order Cortana to change the power state of the PC. This works only in English right now according to Microsoft, and the following commands are supported:
Restart PC -- Hey Cortana, restart PC
Turn off PC -- Hey Cortana, turn off PC
Sign out -- Hey Cortana, sign out
Lock PC -- Hey Cortana, lock PC

Microsoft also made some improvements to see Game Mode, which is supposed to offer increased performance in full-screen games, activated by default in "some games." The company teased a new gaming-related feature,
TruePlay, formerly called Game Monitor, is a placeholder within the Windows UI.
