1 million Apple Watch ordered in US alone on 1st preorder date

A study by Slice Intelligence estimates that Apple recorded 957,000 Apple Watch preorders on Friday in the US, the first day the device was available to order. The company tracked the e-receipts of 9,080 online shoppers who opted in to have their email tracked, the company estimates over 957,000 people purchased some variant of the Apple Watch in US alone. So on average, customers bought 1.3 watches which means that many customers ordered two or more units.

Out of these, Slice Intelligence estimates 62 percent went with the cheapest Apple Watch Sport model, mostly in the Space Gray finish, with most of the rest preferring to get the stainless steel model. The larger 42mm version was also the more popular choice over the 38mm. The Black Sports Band was the most popular choice, followed by the White Sports Band, and then the Milanese Loop. The company has more detailed stats on its website.

    Apple watch review

In terms of accessories, the Black Sport Band was the most popular add-on for both Watch and Sport buyers. The Milanese Loop was surprisingly popular, coming in third for sales behind the White Sport Band. Apple would soon be publishing the official numbers shortly but it’s quite likely that the Apple Watch became the best selling smartwatch on launch day itself.

    1. All very well, but what about the features for Mobile responsive websites? I've seen a lot of these things go straight into the bedside draw (I get around!) and not see sunlight again.
