How to create a new Local User Account in Windows 8/8.1

We all know that you need a user account to use Windows, and if you share a single PC with other people, each person should have their own account for safely and privacy reason. There are many benefits of having separate user account in Windows. Each person can customize their account with their own settings and preferences, like a desktop background or screen saver. User accounts also help control which files and apps each person can use and what changes they can make to the PC. But if you own the PC you can always make you the only Admin of your Windows who can only do any system related critical task.

User Account concept is a very old item in computer world but in Windows 8 Microsoft adds some change in it. When you create a user account in Windows 8 or 8.1, you can choose between two types of accounts: a local account for that PC or a Microsoft account, which works on all the Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 PCs you use. Though Microsoft recommends using a Microsoft account but my vote goes to local account because I don’t often use Live or Hotmail service. But if you are using those regularly then you can go for Microsoft account.

How to create a local user account Windows 8/8.1
A local account is an account that lets you sign in to only one PC. If you create a local account, you’ll need a separate account for each PC you use. None of your settings will be synced between the Windows 8.1 PCs you use, and you won’t get the benefits of connecting your PC to your files, settings, apps, and services online in the cloud and accessible from anywhere. But keep in mind that you also won't be able to download apps from the Windows Store without a Microsoft account.

Here’s the procedure or creating a local account-

1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings. If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.

Windows 9 concept screenshots

Windows 7 in 2009, Windows 8 in 2012 and at last we saw Windows 8.1 release in 2013. So we are almost certain that at least the next Windows release will be named by number unlike Windows XP or Vista. And it’s safe to assume that we can see the word ‘9’ in the next Windows box. Though it’s very unlikely that we see Windows 9 release in 2014 because if that is the Microsoft’s plan than we already heard something about the Windows 9 beta or alpha version by this time.

So it’s almost certain that Microsoft will release Windows 9 in 2015 with dramatic change in nature with very little visual change. Dramatic means they will try to forget about Windows 8 RT. It is completely a flop show for them. Microsoft should try to unify the regular Windows and the new Metro environment.

Instead of having two apps, one for the “old” Windows UI and one for Metro, each with its different designs, features and notifications. In addition to the return of the Start menu, the next major Windows release should also find a way to expand its platform compatibility as part of tablet movement. Though a recent rumor claims that the Metro UI will be ditched in future Windows and Windows Phone versions, but I personally don’t think Microsoft will do it. Instead a proper Start Menu in desktop mode will solve many problems of Windows 8 in desktop in a click. Gadget is one more thing from Windows 7 Microsoft might want to bring back in Windows 8.

With little to go on and plenty of speculation and rumor, designers have mocked up a number of concepts and fitting with previous releases — to detail what they expect the upcoming operating system to look like. Here are just a few examples of some of the most visually stunning and detailed designs we've found over the internet. These photos are created by Jerry Jappinen, Chris Lombardo, Simeon Metev and Niklas Lv.
